Umar Naseer President of Islamic Democratic Party (IDP) has said he would remain true to his promise that under an IDP led government people involved in import of drugs in to the country would be given death penalty. Umar Naseer said that he was not a person who talks differently on different occasions. Umar made the statement when asked by Miadhu Daily if given the opportunity to form the government will he change his tunes or will be true to his promise and would hand out death penalty to people who import drugs in to the country.
“I don’t talk differently on different occasions. It is not something I do, I am repeating the things I said on the first day, what I tell today would not be any different from I told before, there will be no conflicts” said Umar Naseer who first political party leader to announce his presidential candidacy.
Umar further reiterated his support for death penalty for importers of drugs in to the country and said that under an IDP led government death penalty would be given to such people. He said he believed future generations can only saved from the clutches of drugs by enforcing such penalties.
“As I said before under an IDP led government death sentences will be handed out to importers of drugs, may be we might have take the life of 4 or 5 per year, but I believe that without that kind of punishment it would be difficult to save our future generations, I am very clear on this under an IDP government death penalty will be given to people who import drugs in to the country” said Umar Naseer.
Umar further revealed that some people were trying to twist what he has said. Umar explained that some people say that he wants to give death sentences to drug users as well, something which Umar denied.
“Some people for political reasons were trying to twist what I have said, they are not doing an accurate translation, they claim that I have said that IDP government would give death penalty to drug users. But that is not what I have been saying, please be clear on this, what I am saying is death penalties for those who import drugs in to the country” said IDP President Umar Naseer.
Political analysts believe that Umar is a strict disciplinarian.
