Voting on transitional Chapter to be continued today

A Special Majlis will gain meet today. The main agenda item scheduled is the continuation of voting on the transitional chapter.

One article of the transitional chapter was passed last week as Majlis sessions were boycotted last week by DRP. In this regard the last 2 sessions of the Special Majlis was cancelled due to lack of quorum as members of DRP has refused to attend.

According to DRP they boycotted the last 2 sessions due to member disagreements on the voting procedure of the transitional chapter.

Speaking with Miadhu Daily last Wednesday night, Chief Spokesperson of DRP Mr. Ibrahim Shafiu said an emergency meeting of its parliamentary group was held and the meeting was concluded without reaching any decision. He said due to inability to reach a common stand on the issue of voting on transitional chapter, the Majlis sessions were boycotted in order not to provide the opportunity for members to take points of orders and disrupt the flow of the Majlis.
Mr. Shafiu said further meetings of its parliamentary group will take place during the week and during that time time members would agree on a common stand and would attend the Majlis on Sunday (today).

MP for Male’ as well as the leader of the Social Liberal Party Mr. Ibrahim Ismail (Ibra) speaking to Miadhu Daily on the matter said that leader of DRP was sulking but the members will not care. Mr. Ibra said DRP members will attend the Majlis next Sunday.
