President of Maldivian Social Democratic Party (MSDP) Ricco Ibrahim Manik has stated that if the party’s congress decides to join the presidential race, then he is ready to compete in the presidential elections.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily Ibrahim Manik said that party’s congress is due to meet this month and that the congress will make a decision whether or not to compete in the presidential elections. He further said the congress may decide to endorse a candidate instead of directly competing in the elections. He said in such a situation the candidate will be decided on based their manifestos.
Ricco Ibrahim Manik further said even though a specific date has not been fixed for the meeting of the congress it will take place before the end of the month. He said the congress scheduled for last month was delayed due to incomplete logistical arrangements. He said he was confident that the congress will be held his month.
