Division had aroused between the largest opposition party – MDP and the National Unity Alliance (NUA) on the issue of a collaborative representative candidate.
In the 50th meeting of the National Congress of MDP, division occurred within the party on the issue of confining the meeting. The rules and regulations of the party suggest that if the meeting or part of the meeting could be confined to the orders of the party president and therefore was the meeting. However, the ballots suggested the other way round.
The scene did not remain calm, when the issue of collaborative candidate was opened for debate. Several candidates aroused the question of bringing forward of a collaborative candidate with the current structure of NUA, while some called on for collaborative candidate. Member of the National Congress - Dr. Ibrahim Didi stated the importance of a collaborative candidate.
In this bargain, Ibrahim Didi (KD) said that succession would be easy with a collaborative candidate, while challenging Maumoon. Furthermore, he said that it is vital to know who is in NUA. Moreover, he stated that a final decision would be made only after electing a representative candidate from the party and this was approved after a hot debate.
