MDP starts sending ballot boxes to atolls

Presidential Primary Committee of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has revealed that the ballot boxes to be used in the primary elections are on their way to the atolls.

Vice Chairman of the Presidential Primary Committee Ubaidhulla Muaz ballot boxes for the primary election has been dispatched to 3 islands of the Shaviyani Atoll and that the ballot boxes to the atolls will dispatched on different dates to different atolls. He said this is due to the transport arrangements and that all ballot boxes will be positioned one day ahead of the election date.

“The way our schedule is, we are dispatching the boxes to different directions every day, at present we have dispatched 3 boxes, and 6 is to be sent today (last Thursday), those islands which can be reached by flight we will dispatch the boxes by flight, we have a tight program on 21, 22, 23 these days, but we will position all boxes one day ahead of the election day” said Ubaidulla.

Ubaidulla revealed that ballot boxes are already in Feevah, Magoodhoo and Kaditheemu of Shaviyani atoll. Ubaidulla also said that 117 ballot boxes will positioned in 86 islands. He further said ballot boxes will also be kept in 6 resorts and 3 industrial islands.

MDP primary election is scheduled for the 25 of April.
