CSC not consulted on the proposed amendments

Civil Service Commission (CSC) has said that the commission was not consulted with regard to amendments proposed by the government to the Civil Service. Civil Service Commission made the statement in a written response given to a Majlis member while clarifying queries regarding the proposed amendment by the government. A copy of the Commission’s response was forwarded to Miadhu Daily yesterday night.

The written response of the commission notes that under clause (b) of article 49 of the Civil Service Act 1720 civil servants are to be retired. According to the response it includes 9 assistant atoll chiefs, 22 senior assistant atoll chiefs, 27 Assistant Atoll Chiefs, 10 Deputy Atoll Chiefs, 196 Island Chiefs and 222 Junior Island Chiefs.

The commission revealed that it was not aware of the existence any civil servant that is not required to report to work under clause (a) of article 49 of the Civil Service Act.

The member informed the commission that he had informed Commission that he had received information that Atolls Ministry employs people who are not required to report to work.

The Civil Service Act is come in to force on the first of May this year.
