MDP Nominations Close

Nominations for MDP presidential candidate primary close. Nominations closed yesterday for the position of MDP's presidential candidate primary as well as for the vacant Chairperson's post. Three leaders are contesting in the presidential candidate primary, MDP President Dr. Mohamed Munavvar, former MDP chairperson and founding member Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) and member of MDP's parliamentary group Reeko Moosa Manik.

Contenders for the post of chairperson have not been revealed but sources in MDP say that Mariya Didi, MP for Male' Atoll and Ismailbe', one of the oldest members of the party will contest. Both the ballots will take place on April 25th. Nominated names will be officially announce today. However, fierce campaigning is already going on for the presidential candidate primary, especially between the Anni and Munavvar's camp.
