Atoll Mr. Hussein Ibrahim has been appointed to the vacant position. Hussein Ibrahim was appointed with the majority vote of the MDP’s National Governing Council meeting last night.

In the last nights Council Meeting the party also debated about the National Unity Alliances plan to apply a one candidate policy in order to defeat President Gayoom. Member of the Council Mr. Moosa Rameez said that it was not a comfortable choice for MDP. He noted that he had called on the council not to connect with the People’s Association for the system of government referendum and when the MDP put down his advice, the PA had separated from the MDP.

When the chair asked fro the vote t make a decision the MDP’ Council voted that they will welcome the one candidate policy, however they will come to a decision on the matter after the MDP’s Presidential Primaries.
